Day To Day Itinerary

Day 1

Overnight flight to Ireland

Day 2

Arrive into Dublin where your own personal Irish driver/guide will meet you in the Arrivals hall and transfer you to your Dublin hotel, allowing you time to unwind after your overnight flight. This afternoon all guests will embark on a short tour of Dublin which includes a visit to Epic Ireland, where you’ll discover that what it means to be Irish expands far beyond the borders of Ireland. Finish the afternoon off with a visit to the Guinness Storehouse and sample “a pint of the black stuff” made famous around the world by Arthur Guinness. After a welcome reception at our hotel, the rest of the evening is free to explore the nearby bars and restaurants at leisure.

Day 3

This morning after your first full Irish breakfast we travel westwards in the footsteps of St Ciaran to his monastic settlement at Clonmacnoise, where you will unlock the secrets of saints and scholars and the importance of the church in Irish history. Afterwards, we travel along the banks of the River Shannon to the once fortified town of Athlone. Hidden behind the towering Athlone Castle we stop off at Ireland’s oldest Pub, Sean’s bar for lunch and a chat with Timmy to hear his stories of the bar and the making of whiskey on the banks of nearby Lough Ree. Sample Sean’s own beer or whiskey with a bite of lunch before we head to Galway, the City of the Tribes on the mouth of the River Corrib. On arrival, you will embark on a short walking tour of this old medieval city and after check in to hotel, the evening is free to sample and experience the wonderful cuisine options that are on offer in this old walled city.

Day 4

After breakfast, we travel north-west towards Sligo and Donegal but stop off at the resting place of WB Yeats, considered to be one of the greatest poets of the 20th century. We continue Northwards but take a jump across the Border to the tranquil village of Belleek to visit Belleek pottery. Take a tour and learn why Belleek pottery has graced Halls and Palaces of the rich and famous since 1857. We also allow time for lunch after our tour. We then travel into County Donegal and along the shores of Donegal Bay to our overnight hotel, located on the banks of Lough Eske. Time to relax before dinner this evening at the magnificent Harvey’s Point Hotel.

Day 5

This morning we travel the short distance to Donegal town. Here we have a short demonstration of the old craft of weaving and time for a quick coffee before we travel along Donegal Bay to Ireland’s and Europe’s highest sea cliffs at Slieve League. You’ll marvel at one of Ireland’s best-kept secrets and a signature point on the Wild Atlantic Way. We then take a short trip to the quaint village of Glencolmcille and Fr McDyer’s Folk village. The village is one of Ireland’s best living history museums with replica buildings from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries – a step back in time and stories of years gone by. Travel back to our hotel via Ireland’s busiest fishing port of Killybegs and relax for a while before dinner.

Day 6

We leave Donegal this morning and travel to Northern Ireland and the Walled City of Derry. On arrival, a local guide will meet us and take us on a walk of the old city walls. Hear about the troubled and turbulent past of this old city and port. Discover how cultures have embraced each other to set a new path for a now vibrant city. After a coffee break, we travel along the famous Antrim coastline to the world-famous Giants Causeway. Walk in the footsteps of Giants on this spectacular visit where basalt columns extend from cliffs down into the sea like a honeycomb pathway. We continue along the Glens of Antrim where we stop off for an evening with a difference at the Crosskeys Inn, Ireland’s oldest thatched pub. Let Vincent and family wine, dine and entertain you with traditional Irish experience. We then travel the short distance to our hotel in the city of Belfast.

Day 7

This morning after a leisurely breakfast we take a panoramic tour of Belfast. Once known as Ireland’s Industrial capital and home to linen mills, rope making, engineering works and most important of all, shipbuilding. Belfast was home to Titanic and we visit the Titanic Centre to hear the story of this famous liner. We take in the history of the Troubles during our panoramic tour and visit the Peace walls that once divided the local communities. This afternoon we let you discover the city by yourself and this evening sample the hospitality that has now made Belfast a must visit the city.

Day 8

We leave Belfast after breakfast this morning and travel south towards the mountains of Mourne. We travel along the coast to Newcastle, through the mountains by the Silent Valley and to Greencastle to catch a ferry ride across Carlingford Lough. Here we stop in the medieval village of Carlingford for lunch and a short walking tour. After lunch, we head to the Valley of the Kings and Newgrange, a 5000-year-old passage tomb and older than the pyramids in Egypt! After our visit, we travel back to Dublin city in good time for you to enjoy your last night in the Capital City.

Day 9

This morning we will provide transfers at allocated times to Dublin Airport for check-in and departure flights. Either a Continental or Hot Breakfast will be provided before transfer.

27th April 2020 – Park House Hotel, Galway
